You will first need to get projector headlight assemblies. An HID kit in your stock headlights will be to bright and you'll piss off everyone at night haha. I ordered my l hid kit online at DDMtuning.com. The tricky thing about putting aftermarket headlights/HID kit on our cars is that the stock headlamp uses 1 bulb for high and low beams whereas most (if not all) aftermarket assemblies use 2 separate bulbs. The way I got mine setup was I purchased the headlight assemblies from eBay, the kit uses 2 H1 style bulbs which isn't what the car uses stock so to make things easy ill just tell you what you need. Go to DDM tuning and order a kit for your factory bulb style.. I believe it's a 9006 style 35w or 55w it's your choice, the kit should have an option on the side where you can select a high/low kit. By ordering this kit you will get a harness that will connect your plugs to the ballasts. This kits bulbs will not fit in your new headlight assembly so you will simply order a new pair of just the bulbs. You need to order the H1 style bulbs and don't worry they will plug and play to your kit. Your headlight assemblies will come with standard h1 style bulbs and you will use these for your high beams. The pos and neg wires will then need to be connected to the small black and white wires on your hid harness and the hid bulbs should just plug in to the harness. You will now have your HIDs working and your high beams will be functional altogether this setup cost me less than $200 and only took about 2hrs to install but will probably install faster since you have been told what to do lol . If you need any further help feel free to PM me.. Good luck!

I just got mine done today and this is how they look. Before and after. I got a guy to istall them for 80 bucks, and that icludes the kit and install. It might be a little much considering i can get them on ebay for 33 bucks but i got an idea on how to do it so i can purchace the ebay set and install them myself on the foglights.

Re: I Want HIDs!!! Help Me!!!

Stangmods.com used to make a few kits. I installed them on mine for a while and yea they were bright but not worth $250-300 in my opinion.

Re: I Want HIDs!!! Help Me!!!

HIDs are one of the simplest mods to install. Ive installed them on many cars and motorcycles. I dont recommend them in non projector headlights though... mainly because I think it looks tacky. Also, in many cases Ive seen where you end up losing visibility without the projectors.

With that said I do have them installed in my fog lights, for cosmetic purposes only. They do not light up the road at all at night.

If your looking for a cheap set with good quality go to ebay and look up xentec. Ive used many of their kits with great success. Simple plug and play installation. Just make sure your battery is disconnected when working on them. The ballasts put out high voltage and you do not want to get zapped.

Anyone can install these!

It's time to upgrade those fog lights now!

And I got mine on eBay from xentec as well and it was super easy to do just research on line and watch videos and they were only like 30 bucks as well and they've lasted a long time too!

What size bulb did you buy for your fog lights? I bought H10 and they were a PITA to install. I had to custom fit them...

Re: I Want HIDs!!! Help Me!!!

What brand did you go with. I got Xentec. Great stuff but the bulbs were too big to fit in the housing.

Yea same xentec. They seem longer than the stocks but they fit perfect. It's the rubber piece that you have to swap out from the stock to the new one

I went through some pain doing this to my 2000 GT.

My best advice here is this: Whatever kit you choose, DO NOT get smoked lens covers. I had a set with H1 bulbs -- you could barely tell they were on or working -- and in the rain, dangerous.

I recently redid the setup I had with a new projector beam enclosure, re-used my H1s for the high beams, and put in a set of 3000ks for the low beams. The new enclosure is way better and now I have HIDs for both low and high beams -- they work way better than the stock setup.

Now for the down side of all of this -- literally 9 connectors per side to pull the headlight enclosures. Each HID has 3 connectors. There are two of those. Then the regular headlight hookup, and the side marker light. Add to that a plug connector kit for the LED lights in the setup (the instructions jokingly suggest soldering the wires directly from the car to the enclosure) -- it's way more complicated to get the bulb enclosure off the front of the car.

then there's the fact that there's no room for the ballasts under the hood. I ended up making brackets for them to be mounted between the radiator and the front grill, and I redid the fasteners on the plastic cover over the grill so I can just pull it (Used velcro -- works like a charm).

I estimated something like 30 hours of work getting from the dark headlight beam setup to the clear beam setup. I'm sure an expensive kit would have reduced some of this time -- but you're still adding weight to the nose of your pony and I suspect even the kits don't help you find space to put the ballasts -- and you're greatly complicating the lighting on the front of the car.

Worth it? Maybe. Had I known what I was getting into, I think I would have just gone for a new set of stock lens covers. I'm so glad it's behind me. Be aware that you're in for some complexity and some of the pain I mention here.

Oh, and one more thing -- pay close attention to the socket standards for the HIDs when you buy the lens assembly if you don't buy a kit from one location.

Hope this helps.

just a thought, and correct me if im wrong, wouldnt HID headlights rob you of horsepower being that they pull so much current?

I'm not sure if its HP they take away, but it definitely takes power away from your battery, you just need to set them up right

well i mean the reason i say that is because things like the air condition/ power steering pump etc use electricity and i know for a fact that they rob hp. tbh i have been thinking about installing the free spinning pullies to pick up the kidnapped hp lol

lmao not a bad idea. Personally i just didn't care too much for the bright HID's so I took them off after about 3 hours.

No problems there

HIDs pull less power than stock halogen lighting.
