| Aurora's heart died.
Blew the engine. 80% compression lost on cylinder 3 and 2.
I really wanted to put a 347 stroker in it but I'm sure it'll cost too much for supporting mods like tranny change, bell housing, clutch, and drive shaft.
So I guess I'll be dropping in a replacement 4.6 2v. Does anyone have leads on decent engines for decent prices?
And any suggestions that are practical please let me know. I don't have a ton of money since I'm only 21 but I can work pretty hard to make things work.

Is it your only car??? If not just yank it and rebuild it! You can put that money you would put on a new one on some forged internals!

It's almost as cheap to buy a short block vs rebuilding
Craigslist / junkyard best bet for cheaper replacement

Check out Craigslist, St. Louis Missouri. A guy on there has 5.0's brand new from a stock house. Can't figure out how to post the link

I can't use a 5.0 because it won't mate up to my existing drivetrain?
There's too much wrong with this engine to do a complete rebuild.
I will be installing forged internals and steel valves. Also might be going with stage 2 cams since it'll be out and it'll be a 4.6 direct replacement.

Also if he rebuilds he can do what he wants to the internals...THAT is what I was getting at...

I will be buying the new stock replacement, taking it apart, installing forged internals and maybe new cams and beehive springs along with steel valves. Does anyone have any idea were to get a good engine for a good price?

When I am in need of salvage parts I usually use Lkq they have a nation wide network and the prices are usually pretty competitive.

++++ for MPS auto salvage. Ask for Rob who deals with the internet sales. I bought a engine, transmission, complete wiring harness, pedal assembly, and an 8.8 rear off a 2000 GT for $4K. All you need is the motor less the accessories and wires so your probably looking at $1000-1500 depending on weather or not they will sell you the motor without the wires/accessories. I know they like to keep the stuff together. Here is a Romeo engine they have on EBAY going for $1,695 with all the accessories minus ECU and speedo (the stuff you don't need). Ask them to sell you this one without all the crap you don't need. Would probably knock a few hundred off so maybe looking at 1300-1400.

Or for a while buy a beater civic for a few hundred bucks, drive that around, take the stang off insurance and slowly build a monster. Just a thought.

Really sucks man. I hope you come across some good fortune!
Round here many of the seasoned mechanic shops use Jasper Engines for bone stock replacements. Besides what everybody has suggested here, maybe this is an option to get a baseline. http://www.jasperengines.com/index.php

Here we are so far. Everything pulled out and wiring harness disconnected. Ready to unbolt the tranny and pull the motor. Been a productive night because all morning and afternoon was spent pulling my friend's Civic engine and tearing that completely down.
Too bad i don't have the engine lift here else I'd pull it tonight. Oh well. Tomorrow!

Ouch sorry to hear about the car. I know your pain, this happened to me last year. It super sucked. I bought a used motor and had the engine swapped out. it was about 1800 for everything. good kuck on your car.
