4.10 gear rear end

I have a 2000 GT and am looking to replace the rear end. I have found one out of a 97 GT but it's got the 4.10 gear. I've been told it will bolt up and will be 1/2 an inch short on each end. How will that affect the feel of my car and what will this do to my gas mileage?

If your just looking for gears then get gears. Or a rebuild pack for the trac loc a set of 3:73 from ford racing, and a bearing kit and goto town.

My rear end chirps when I turn right. So I just figured this is an opportunity to make it faster.

Well then put a 31 spline tracloc in it with new bearings and axles. use ur gears. If it sqwauks then try draining the fluid and filling up with a bottle of friction modifier and 75w140 try that first.
