Under driver pullies are a great thing to have.

Re: under pullie good or bad?

they do help a little bit (5-8hp perhaps), maybe a SLIGHTLY bit better MPG. The issue is they underspin everything so the alternator may not fully charge at idle~ most dont have a huge issue unless they idle the car a lot or have a stereo system.

Is it gonna kill my battery at idle?

I have bbk UDPs on my car and have never had any issues. Note that I also have 2 kicker 900w amps powering 2 kicker c12 competition subs.

As was said earlier it's really only 8-10HP maybe more with a tune. but it's not really adding HP so much as simply freeing up HP.

+1, although I believe its more around 5-8 hp freed....but none the less, get some but only get SFI certified bolt on pullies, DO NOT GET the piggy back style...

Ill play devils advocate. I don't like them. Its a very slight advantage for a significant risk to your belt system. I prefer to keep the stock pulleys.

I just don't see Steeda releasing a product with their name on it if it was a significant risk to your motor...

I don't see any real benefit from them. I have a buddy who bought his car with them on and he's blown 1 alternator and 3 alternator wiring harnesses because of them

Can you prove it was the UDP? And not faulty equip or overload from a system drawing too much? Many many more people have had them with absolutely no issues...

Love em, never had trouble. Don't know about HP gains but definitely improved throttle response

His car is bone stock other than gears, the UDPs, and a short throw. It ran like a top up until that point, I can't give you a 100% positive answer but I'm 98% certain those are it. He's got a 95 GT by the way

That's wierd, I mean different cars take to mods differently....I will be using stock alt pulley...and eventually getting a high amp alt...

Yeah it's been a real stumper for us. Gonna try and switch everything out here in the next couple of weeks. I could watch his headlights dim at idle because his alternator just wasn't able to put out enough voltage at idle.

I've got UD Pulleys on my '04 GT!.. Alt., Water, and crank pulleys!.. Noticed a little bit better throttle response and all!... Never had a problem with them either!..

I have the Steeda UD and I noticed a bit more I the throttle. I do have a tune so that may make the difference. I did have the stock pulley on the alt and my battery died within a months time. Charged the battery and it did it again. Swapped the steeda alt pulley on and didn't have a problem since.
