new transmission

ok so I had a me transmission installed and it's been making a whirring noise while I'm driving and a rattle. I brought the car to the shop and the mischance told me it is making noises because it's new and needs to break in.. if anybody has any experience with this can you please tell me if that is a true statement? he also told me it could be my short shifter making the noise but my. at never made this noise b4 the job. I bought my car with the short shifter and never heard any noise..
any help would be greatly appreciated

Sorry I'm not truly understanding is the transmition completely new or new clutch or used tranny? And does it make the noise all the time or when you push in on the clutch or when it's released and driving, at idle or higher Rpms?

Re: new transmission

Is there anyway to get a video with the sound, or is it to quiet? Mine makes a whinny noise in first and second especially when driving at higher RPM but i doubt its the same noise as yours?....

it is a brand new transmission and the noise has subsided because it's broken in a little bit now
