Which header gaskets and bolts are best for long tube headers?

Hey guys! This is my first post so here it goes...

Once I purchase my new GT, it's getting lots of work done to it! I'm going to put on some stainless steel headers (either bbk or pypes) and I was wondering which gaskets you recommend. Also which header bolts do you recommend? I was looking at some stage 9 or something bolts that are lockers and used in aviation. Would these be good? They're made for the headers.

Thanks for your help!

On my headers I just used the Felpro kind from autozone and they work great for me. As long as they are metal and not paper then your good IMO cuz i used the paper ones and they were crap. Bolts, I used the header bolts from summit, but I have heard if you can use some of the studs it will help as well.

Ford oem gasket works best. American muscle sells ford racing that are great. Stage 8 locking bolts are a good idea

If the gaskets that come with headers are metal, are they OK to use?

I looked up the ford racing ones, I mean they are good I couldnt really tell if they are all paper or combo of paper and metal. Go here and click on the picture of the gasket and you will see that its thicker and made of both metal and paper. I have used them on my Gt and had no problems what so ever.

Is there a difference between the ones that have the 4 connected vs the 2x2 per header?

Now when I install the headers, how do you keep the gaskets on before the bolt up?

Ford racing are all metal. Are you using studs or bolts? If studs just put two studs in the corners of where the gasket will be and slip the gasket on and then the header. Bolt down. If bolts the then rtv trick is the better solution unless you want to use the studs just to hang the gasket and header them put the other bolts in, remove the studs and replace with the new bolt.

I was planning on using stage 8 locking bolts. How do you use the studs? Do they come loose any?

Re: Which header gaskets and bolts are best for long tube headers?

I used the studs in areas where I couldnt get a bolt in there. if you want to remove the studs you need a stud remover you can pick up at a hardware or parts store. In some places you can use the studs but this time im going to use grade 8 header locking bolts.
