OK let me start by saying I'm 17, making $10. So which ever path I go, I'm going all the way with it. Either way, the car is getting some wheels and tires, lowered, off-road h pipe, flowmaster 44, stereo, and short throw shifter.

Here are the options. This is on a white car.

Appearance:

2.5 or 3" cowl hood
99/01 cobra bumper
Mach 1 chin spoiler
Mach 1 grille delete
Smoked headlights
Hid kit
Chrome fr500s
Shorty antenna
Saleen spoiler
Rear decklid blackout
Lower valence blackout
Tinted tail lights

Or

Power:
Long tube headers
Throttle body
Plenum
Cold air intake
Tuner
3.73 gears
Under drive pulleys
Drilled and slotted rotors
American racing rebel wheels and tires

Which one should I do? I'm not going to mix up these.

I want the power as I do race with my friends but at the same time, I'm 17 and should probably try to not get tickets LOL. Opinions are appreciated!

Well in the grand scheme of things, my money is limited and I wouldn't be happy with the appearance side unless I did all that.

That's not to say that once I have all of one thing done that I might start to work on the other.

Well looks like you've got a really good idea as to how you want your ride to look!.. On that part that's a good thing!.. But if your stuck on doing either "all performance" or "all appearance" then personally I would go with the performance first!..

For my own ride I've been doing a little bit of both!.. Depending on what I can save up for next!.. Performance wise I've got CAI, 75mm TB w/plenum, pullies, MSD coils, tune, O/R X-pipe, and Cherry Bomb cat back!.. Also have front and rear strut tower braces, SWARR Bar, and MM 4 point K-member brace!..

Appearance wise I've got, Mach1 Spoiler, Mach1 grill delete, black 17 Bullitt style rims, drilled and slotted rotors, tinted windows, tinted tail lights, various hood, rocker panel stripes, and rear bumper decals!.. Also have diamond plate floor mats, Carbon Fibre dash and door trim pieces, and a number of Billet Aluminum trim pieces!..

Personally I've done both!.. Just a little bit at a time, what ever I can afford next!.. Hey we are all on tight budget here!.. Lol.

I say go with the "Appearance" first, but on your two list, to me Slotted Rotors go with Appearance more so that Performance. And on that list, I think you can take Throttle Body and Plenum off that list, cause it's only just a waste of money at this point for you, the other stuff on there is fine.

OK well with the performance parts listed, what is the est. horsepower that I can expect at the crank? Can I gain the 60 horses to be up there with n/a cobras?

In my personal preference I hate having a car that's all show and no go....I'm mixing it up with mine as well. But I Do not agree with the fact that a throttle body and plenum will not help you. I out a 78mm tb/p on mine cause I plan to SC it and I will say, there is a very noticeable difference! Especially above 3k rpm

Yea I was going to do a 70mm TB and the combo for it is a 75mm P. That match is from late model.

Like i said I got the bbk 78mm tb/p and noticed big difference...whatever you go with should help you...just make sure if you do intake stuff that you do exhaust too so it has somewhere to go

Like I said, our cars look good....I would at least get some performance out of the way before you do appearance...don't be all show no go!

Having had two 95 GT's.. One all go no show(until the end) and my current car more show then go.. I personally say go with show then go.. Why? So when you get done with making it look the way you want it's worn down.. Engine drivetrain wise.. If you go show then go the car will look the way you want and be fast.. By the time I was ready to look good doing it I had racked tons of miles and passes at the track, broke two trans and worn down my engine.. This is just my personal exp

Tune CAI and gears with a bigger throttle body and better exhaust would be good as for appearance I always thought the challenger couldn't look any better then stock it's just perfect the way it is and I love what they did with it

Personally I say go with a mix of appearance and performance!.. If not performance first!.. Nothing is worse than having a car that looks like a "Bad A$$" yet not have to balls to back it up!.. Just my .02!...

I was actually refering to his stang but i will go for a tune on the challenger when they make one for the new sixxer and its already got an intake. I do agree with the appearance i think most of the stripes and decals dodge puts on the kinda destroy the look of it

Personally, I would take your list mods, appearance and performance, and figure out an estimated timeline of completion. Based on that, I would select items from each list to make your final list based on what deadsp0t ^^^ is saying above. How long will you keep your car before you pull the trigger on a new one? Most likely you will be making more money in the coming years with promotions or career changes. That will change what you want in a car.

I would figure about 280-300 at the wheels!.. Gears are a "force mulitplier" and Long Tubes show some good gains in both HP and torque!.. Keep in mind that a good tune will bring it all together!..
