Re: rims/ 2nd gear

so you are having driveability issues but you want rims?

fix the issues first. nothing like having a car that looks nice but doesnt run!

try to change the tranny fluid, i use Royal Purple Synchrotech or whatever RP calls it, others use Mobil1 Synthetic blend, everyone has an opinion. this may help your 1-2 shift feel smoother. Are you on the stock shifter or an aftermarket? if not, get an aftermarket shifter, MGW is a really nice shifter for stangs, Steeda Tri-Ax and Pro5.0 also are good options. should change out the rear diff fluid while you are at it, since its likely never been changed!

as far as rims its all in what you want, its like mustang exhaust, everyone has their own tastes. AmericanMuscle.com has a good selection and good prices so that might be a place to start browsing. Popular choices being the FR500's, Bullitts, CobraR's or 03/04 Cobra rims are popular as far as mustang-specific rim choices go. most go with a "Staggered" look, being a wider Deep-Dish in the rear (usually 10 or 10.5" wide) and a smaller up front thats non deep-dish (usually 8 or 9" wide, which is still wider than stock!) also you have to think about tire choice when swapping up to different size rims than the standard 8" (245's), as tire sizes, patterns and compounds can all start to add up as far as cost. IMO the best bang for buck tire that is great in all weather conditions and shines in summer is the BFG KDW2. you will easily spend 1000-1500$ on a rim/tire combo.

hope this gets you going in the right direction.
