cd-6 player

I just bought this 04 2dr coupe and it has what I think is a mach 460 6-cd sys. in it. My problem is it won't take a cd. Push load button says intializing and nothing happens. Hit load button acouple of times and then get cd error. Need some advice here.

Sounds like the loading mechanism is ruined. I wouldn't even mess around with it any further. You can get a aftermarket player for really cheap and you should be able to find the factory replacement on eBay cheap as well. Make sure they are the same model though

Re: cd-6 player

Thanks for the advice. I thought that it would be easier to just replace. You said to make sure it's the same model. I'm assuming it's the Mach 460 because what I've seen the Mach 1000 says so on the cd door and the Mach 460 just has CD-6 on the door. Is that safe to assume or not?

There should be some form of model number on front

Re: cd-6 player

Ok thanks I'll look at it closer and see. I bought the car for my grand daughter for her grad so when she comes over I'll check it out. I thought when I seen this radio that it was a big plus but what I've read it sounds like junk.

Re: cd-6 player

Yah unfortunately the loading mechanisms are complete caca on those 460/10000 players. You are not alone...

Mine went out probably 3 years ago and it still has 6 of my cd's in it lol. I use my Ipod all the time now anyways so it doesn't bother me.

As said, it's much easier and cheaper to either buy an aftermarket head unit or find a used 460 unit, though you may end up in the same situation with another 460.

It sucks too, because the 460 isn't a terrible sounding system for a stock unit...I'm happy enough with the sound but then I don't need subs and all that sh*t. It's just inconvenient if you want to use a cd.
