Traction control wont work

Had a roaring noise coming from the rear end and was told my carrier bearings were bad. So the guy said he would put a bearing kit in the axle. Now the traction button won't work. but when I gun it the tires spin and no the traction control does not kick in at all. Should I be worried he did something wrong or maybe he put somebody else's gears in my car?

Obviously the mechanic messed something up. Maybe he didn't reconnect the wheel speed sensor? Nothing mechanical will cause that failure. Only a bad sensor or a continuity issue.
