5.4 heads

Ive heard 5.4 heads fit on a 4.6 is this true? Is it worth it? Has anyone done it? Is there a significant power increase or are they just interchangeable?

Re: 5.4 heads

Yah they fit but unless you are going from non PI to PI there is no gain. Any 2v or 4v head will fit a 5.4L or 4.6L that was origanly a 2v or 4v. When you mess with 3v's they used a different block design and a 3v head will not work on a 2 or 4v block and vise versa.

Yes they fit and u can use a 2v,3v, or 4v head on either 4.6 or 5.4 just gonna need adapter plates and or intake manifold , timing cover, exhaust manifolds, a tune , maybe a cowl hood ( for clearance ) .

3v heads won't work the cooling and oil passes are different.

I agree I'm not going to argue but all the stuff I have read say that when people try it leaks oil, I'm sure it can be done but its pry not worth the trouble.

No I haven't but I think I have a rod knock so I'm looking at my options really considering a 5.4 swap but can't afford or have the know how to build it up. So prob just a straight swap then go from there
