Auto to manual swap

I have a 98GT that is currently an auto. I'm looking at swapping it to a manual, but I have been told I will need a new computer from a manual car. Is this true or can I select that it's a manual car through my diablo predator tuner and then it will fake the computer into putting a manual tune on the car, thus eliminating my need for a whole new computer. Just checking to see if you guys knew anything about any of this.

Ask the manufacture of your flash programmer, but I do believe you need a PCM.. It's same as an auto so it plugs right in, but it's programmed different.. So it's a 50/50 chance.. Even if you need a PCM, u can pick one up pretty cheap used on eBay or even local junk yards.. New I think their around 300-400
