Sct chip/tuner

On AM I see an SCT chip (not one of the fake rip
off chips) and the Bama tuners. The descriptions seem about the same but the price is different. What's the difference?

Matticus,

It sounds like you are comparing the SCT 4-Bank Eliminator chip & The SCT SF3 hand held device.

They are a similar product, they both tune your car! I will touch base on both the features for you!

SCT 4 Bank Chip - This device is preloaded with your custom tunes when you receive it. You will then clip this onto your computer system, that will then piggy back the ECU with your new tunes. The only down fall to this item is it does not come with any of the features that the hand held does & when you need a revised tune file ( since you are enrolled in our free tunes for life program at the time of purchase) you have to take the chip out & mail it back to us to be re burned.

SCT SF3 - This device is also preloaded with your custom tunes. All you have to do with your hand held tuner is plug it into your OB2 port & up load the tunes. Some benefits of this device are, data logging, Check/Clear CEL's ect.. When you add a new modification to your mustang, all you have to do is give us a call & we can email you a revised file!

I hope this clears up the confusion for you! If you have further questions Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 10AM-3PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Get the handheld! I constantly use it for every upgrade. Your new tunes get to you usually within 2 days. Sometimes I receive my tunes within a few hours. Also I've been able to help my friends who have fords read their CEL. It's convenient to have. It's also handy when you need to get back to stock easily if you have a warranty.

Re: Sct chip/tuner

The first purchase I made for my mustang was the Eliminator Chip, and it was the worst decision I've ever made. I installed it, and it randomly made my car shut off while I was going down the road. It rarely worked correctly, and when it did, it didn't work near as well as the handheld SCT tuner that i now own. The chip is cheaper, but it hurts more than it helps in my opinion. PLUS the installation is a pain in the a$$ compared to the tuner. I would go with a combo, get the intake and tuner unless you have an intake already. Or if the tuner is all you want, id get that. but DO NOT get the chip.

If you go combo I'd go with gears. IMO

I've already got gears and intake, that's why I need a good tune. Thanks to everyone for the input, I believe that has cleared everything up.

My 4 bank works great.... If I had a 96+ I'd have a hand held though.
