Head help!!

Ok guys here is what I got going on , I picked up a set of PI heads that had 60k on them for $150 I'm interested in the trick flows but the price is holding me back a bit , I have been reading up on Jon Kaase and modular head shop and I like there work , i have heard some negative about MHS like they were having some issues but I don't know what the issues are. My goal is still 500-550 rwhp would I be able to save some big money going with head work done from either of these companies or would you guys just wait to get the trick flows ? Thanks!!

Re: Head help!!

Trickflow heads will flow more out of the box than stage 3 ported PI heads. However ported PI heads will EASILY flow enough to make 550 and much more! If your goal is 550rwhp I would pay someone $1000-$1200 to do that and pass on the TFS ones

They have had had a couple problems from the 4v heads but the 2v heads are great. It's just hard to get him to answer the phone or an email these days and it takes forever for him to ship the stuff

I personally own a set of custom ported Kaase PI heads and they look awesome. Waiting to finish getting my motor back in my car. Figure about 1200-1600 depending on what you want done

Those heads look great as of the moment I'm leaning toward the Kaase heads the things I've read and heard have been nothing but positive , I picked up a set of heads for pretty cheap and figure I can do these heads and custom blower cams for around the price of the trick flows! When do you think you are gonna have your build done?

I am hoping for 6-8 more weeks and the motor should be back in. We are planning for 550-600 rwp. We shall see but I know with a 2.95 pulley and a little more timing with forged internals it should be on point.

What kind of valve spring are you using and are you doing custom cams or just sticking with comp stage 2 cams?

Trying to learn and have a question. The PI heads are a common update for 2v, correct? For what you guys are doing, do you pickup a stock set of PI heads then have them port & polished?

I have the xe270ah comp cams with high load springs and titanium keeps. This is a street car and these cams make great power and like boost these cams respond well to tuning and boost.

Mzilla is correct in his response, I picked up the heads cheap so I can have them worked on while I still drive my car , I'm building my motor on the side
