Exclamation Cams For A 99-04 Gt

A friend of mine wants to put cams in his 2000 Gt. He wants them for power and sound, but mainly the power increase. Is the increase large? How big of a cam can you put in a stock 00 Gt? All he has done is a CAI and exhaust. I know he will have to tune it for it to run decent, but Idk how big of a cam he could go with, or what brand to recomend to him.

Thanks in advance guys!

He can get away with some stage 2 cams. The most popular cam for stock 2V GTs is the comp 270 stage 2 cams. They work well with the stock setup and make pretty good power. With a tune he can expect about 30hp or so at the wheels, he can also expect the top end to pull harder and the idle to have a really nice lope

I can agree with this I put this cams on my car when it was fairly stock and I saw a difference both performance and sound. I even use the stock springs as well but if I were to go back I would change them out to the bee hive springs from comp.

I have a stage three cam in it now and I really love it...

Do would the 270 cams work? He wants the 270s but hes worried about PTV clearence, do he was thinking maybe 262s? He just wants to be able to put them in, and tune it, then drive it.

I have yet to see 270s not clear the piston I have seen the tfs 2 clear the pistons and they are bigger than the comps. But when it comes to power and sound the tfs2 are beast.

You can do it yourself or pay someone to do it at a shop

I haven't had any personal experience with them, but I have worked with the tfs2 and they cleared a stock GT. Its all in the install really if you know someone that can degree them and install them right then you shouldn't have any problems
