That looks like a PCV to me someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you're having some blow by and should probably be replaced.

The PCV is a inexpensive part and your local auto parts store should have it in stock and yes a bad PCV can make the car run poorly

Re: Does anyone know what this is

The pvc plugs into the pass valve cover and then a rubber tube should run to the bottom, front of the plenium. As far as the first picture, are you referring to the tube your hand is on?

Go to autzone or such and as the person that works there that you need a PVC valve your year of mustang GT, it should only cost like three bucks or so.

Re: Does anyone know what this is

wait a min...look on the coolant tank right below the coolant cap on the underside of the tank and see if it plugs in there....or like a hole or something like that would fit in.

Your definitely high idle but your oil pressure looks ok. It may be slightly high because of your idle surging did you change out that PCV? That may solve your problem.

Hmm have you checked the throttle linkage at the tb and the pedal. just so you can make sure it's not hung up or anything? Resistance on the pedal tell me that it's a mechanical problem because the cable is just a cable that runs from the pedal through the firewall into the engine bay up to where it mounts on your stock intake pelenum. Pressing the gas pedal physically opens your throttle body so if it's difficult to press down the gas it's probably an issue with the tb or the linkage.

Ahhh I got ya. That sounds like a vaccum issue wich if the PCV is clogged or partially clogged will cause and it can really make the car run like sh*t.

---------- Post added at 05:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:56 PM ----------

Lemme know how swapping the PCV turns out. I'm pretty sure it's the problem.

The fact that it was covered in oil or blow by means that it is no longer functioning properly and should be replaced. And your car is showing the symptoms of a bad PCV. Your lucky though a replacement for your year is only a few bucks whereas mine is 35$ ( mine is heated).
