Mid pipe...opinions anyone?

I've decided to keep the stock headers due to not wanting to have to remove LT's every time I need to do a clutch change or tranny maintenance. I'm curious as to to what mid pipe will yield the most gain. That said, I am willing to do an o/r mid pipe but I'm wondering if it will pass smog with MIL eliminators( they don't look under the car where I go).

I'm fond of x-pipes...I like the way they sound both at mid speed and higher speeds

Re: Mid pipe...opinions anyone?

The only thing they really do is tell the computer that everything is ok as if the cats were still there keeping the check eng light from coming on. I put them on my GT and eventually I had to replace them because I could never get them to stop falling on the pipes even after going through a bag of zip ties.

You dont need them really, all you have to do is if you have a tuner go to your nearest speed shop that tunes cars and ask them to turn your rear 02's off. Thats what I did instead of replacing them.

As far as I know smog shops plug into your computer to see if you have any codes related to the evap system

If they check the ecu turning them off will fail you. Been running mil elimimators for years on the gt with no issues.

As far as brand just stay away from pypes, just about any other is fine

I'm not sure what they did but the cut them off and I dont have MIL's and when you run for codes it doesn't show up any codes.

Correct, but on a ecu check it shows them not ready which is a failure the majority of places

They claim it's all the out of towners causing the problems. Installing cameras all over town with plate recognition. If your car is in memphis two days a week or more they will mail you a ticket if you don't pay $15 and go through their inspection
