Need help

I have a 02 gt, it's been making a winding noise and I first I thought it might be the pulleys or belt so I changed them but now it sounds like the noise is coming from under my car, and ideas? Thanks.

Does the sound get louder when you accelerate? Have you checked all your fluid levels?

Well start by checking everything out, jack the car up and spin the wheels to see if the bearings make any noise and if not listen by the driveshaft to see if you hear and noise from the U joints and it could possibly be a transmission noise as well

Does it do it at idle or when you're driving?

Ok well look the things i can think of would b your rear end so u need to listen and see if you can tell if its around the transmission or the back of the car if its the back its in your rear end otherwise its a transmission bearing

No it doesnt go away when I push clutch in, it's mainly making the noise when I'm at idle but I changed my belt and idler pulley thinking that would fix it but it doesn't sound like its coming from under hood.

If your sitting idling, does it get worse when you move the steering wheel to the left or right?

Does it sound like metal on metal? Is it very loud or just noticeable?

So, you mainly hear it at idle, not driving? If yes while driving, does it get louder or more noticeable at a certain RPM?

And, it goes away when the car warms up? Like 2 to 5 minutes?

Yeh mainly while it's at idle, it gets a little louder when I drive but not much more.. It goes away I'm guessing after it warms up but if I stop at a red light or so you can hear it again sometimes not everytime tho it's strange.

Man, that's a tough one. Sure seems like it could be one of the accessories. Like maybe the bearings on your alternator. Maybe the power steering pump. If you can get a long screw driver to touch against these carefully, while idling, you might be able to amplify the noise and determine what is generating it. It may need to be long enough that you can get you ear on the other end of the screwdriver if it's not loud or vibrate enough.

What type of exhaust setup you have? Loose mid pipes expand and contract under heat. If its a close fit, it will make weird sounds. My 2 cents.

It's just stock exhaust but its also a ten year car, I'm planning on changing the exhaust soon.
