A noise from below...

I just noticed that when going to some higher up gears like 3rd 4th, and 5th I get a fairly loud moaning noise that I can also feel. Ideas?

Is it more or less around a certain RPM?

Agreed, I have that prob. Sound travels up the drive shaft making it sound like a tranny or other when is not.

Listen closely see if u can hear it as a very low moan n second maybe first my car did that it was the rear end bearing and the housing that held my spider gears

Also try wiggling ur wheels, if one seems a little loose, that's ur bad wheel bearing(s)

Sorry for the delayed reply to the responses! When driving completely super-normal with no quick shifts or high revs is when I hear/feel it. I feel a shimmy/shake in the gear shift when it happens and hear the moan.

I had my rear diff repaired twice before in the past and this sounds different than with the constant noise with that. I have 208k on my 99 and never had a tranny issue and only replaced the clutch once around 106k.

Any more ideas or a simple way to check? Thanks again guys!

Bad Ujoint...im just throwing out idea....plantary gears in the trans? The only thing I can tell you is see if you can take to shop and put it on the lift while someone is on there shifting gears....and someone under it listen for something.
