anyone see anything wrong with these plugs?

so I just changed my spark plugs, and being my first time, I'm not 100% sure what to look for. I know the plugs are "old" because I hadn't changed them before, and I've had the car for ~40,000 miles. I doubt they had been changed before this also. They have a purple end dot on the none sparking end. (a dot that would probably have come from a factory type environment... at least at the plastic factory I used to work at that's when we used it). So, I was wondering if there was anything wrong with the plugs? My car has 114,000 miles on it currently. All input is very welcomed

The car runs, which sort of surprised me considering I have never been "into" the engine with work before. Also, remembering to plug the PCV valve back in really helps (as it freaked me out hardcore). Anyway, I'm hoping to see that it runs better, and I have an oil change in the near future, as soon as I can find an area that isn't covered with snow and water.

Numbering goes as follows:

Passenger side front - 1, 2, 3, 4 - passenger side firewall
Driver's side front - 5, 6, 7, 8 - driver's side firewall

I was told they were replaced just before I bought the car... that was about 40,000 miles ago. I'd say they clearly hadn't been. The car does run a lot more smoothly right now though.

Re: anyone see anything wrong with these plugs?

That's ALOT of carbon build up on the electrodes. What grade of gas are you running? Run some fuel injector cleaner thru her too.

Re: anyone see anything wrong with these plugs?

I replaced them with OEM replacements. The car runs much smoother now, idles better, and has a little better pick up. OEM replacements are pretty cheap... I'm just happy I did the swap without killing my car. Plus, those plugs NEEDED out. Wow, I can't believe they hadn't been changed in 114,000 miles.

The color on them looks pretty good, though.

my gas mileage has actually gone down. I was getting 22 mpg (down from 26 average when I got the car). I typically get 28-29 interstate, so we'll have to see what happens today. I should use about a half tank, and I'm curious to see what I get. I think my gas mileage went down because the ice and snow is finally melting, and therefore, I'm getting on it a lot more. Plus, it runs so smooth I don't notice my RPM's going up as much... used to have a terrible whine I couldn't stand so I shifted a lot earlier.

Re: anyone see anything wrong with these plugs?

I was surprised at how quickly it actually went, especially being my first time. Passenger side seemed to take forever, especially the first couple. But the driver's side took like 10-15 minutes.

Re: anyone see anything wrong with these plugs?

I used antiseize as well as this electrolytic slime you put on the coil end.

I was told they were replaced at 70,000 miles. Being the car now has 114,000, I figured they should be "ok"... apparently, the guy is a huge liar. So, now to flush all the fluids I can.
