Whining noise

01 GT, I have a noise on cold starts coming from under the hood. It only last about a minute. Thinking maybe a pulley. Want to see if anyone else has had this before or might have an idea what it might be. Basic bolt ons. Cai, steeda pulleys, upper plenum, throttle body. The noise is hard to describe. Will try and post a video later.

Mine had the same problem. I replaced the idle pulley.. Didn't fix the problem but it was smoother. Replaced the tensioner, that fixed the problem completely it was all dried out. I got the part from RockAuto for about $48 Motorcraft, shipping included. Look up a discount code on retailmenot.com also.

Also you can get a long tube, maybe cut up an old garden hose or something. Turn the engine in and put one end of the hose to your ear and the other near each pulley and see which one makes the loudest noise.

Ok I listened to the noise with a screw driver and a stethoscope. It's coming from the idler pulley and the pulley below it. Does anyone know what that one is. Is it the ac? Can just the pulley be changed? It's not coming from the tensioner either.
