96 gt stuck in reverse

i have a 96 gt with a borgwarner t5 and its stuck in reverse i replaced the clutch a week ago i was backing in to my friends drive way and it would not come out of reverse i tried rocking it jacking up the rear end to take presure off the trans and i even took the drive shaft out nothing helped i took the shifter plate off and every thing looked fine in there im thinking its syncronizers or shift fork is bent or something it now it will leave reverse but it goes into another high gear like 5th or 4th when its in reverse the shifter is were 5th is i have no clue whats going on in the transmission i just know its broke and im trying to get advise on what i can do i know i probally only got 2 options rebuild or replace and if i replace im going to get a used one i dont have the money for a new one so ea any advice on what you think is wrong with it and where a good place to find a trans is would help and could i possibily fix it my self
