| What brand of gears to get?
So I'm on American muscle and I'm about to order 4.10 gears for my stang but there's different brands there such as ford racing or motive gear. I was wondering what brand I should go with. Any responses is helpful

I hear nothing but good about ford racing. That's what I'm going with when I have money to buy gears.

I've heard the motive gears are notorious for whining but I guess it could all be in the install but I'm all for sticking with the Ford name if I can

Definitely get the FRPP gears. I've heard they are the only way to go when choosing gears.

FRPP 4.10s. After everything was said and done I had my car running them for about $680. I guess I didn't go the cheapest route but I'm very happy with them and have zero whine and zero problems.

Well it sounds like you've already made your decision, everybody recommends FRPP! I agree, These Ford Racing 4.10 Mustang ring and pinion gears feature a super strong forged construction, CNC cut & lapped gear teeth, and a black oxide finish to resist corrosion.
As long as your buddy takes his time you won't experience any whine. FRPP gears retail for $179.99, however if you do find them cheaper we offer price matching! We also offer a 6% discount to all our active posting forum members with a minimum of 50 post as a token of our appreciation. Shoot me a PM & I'll hook you up.
Let me know if you have any questions, Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

So I talked to my buddy the mechanic and he said to not go higher than 3.73 he says tht 4.10 will make a wine noise above 65 and tht I will loose top end. Is it true about the noise?

4:10 don't whine n my car even at +100 mph so don't know where he heard that, must have been bad install. Ford racing is what I have run in all my cars for past 15 years n had no problems with any street or track use. If auto definitely use 4:10's if stick n u cruise hwy run 3:73 . I make 410 rwhp in vert with tremec t-5 n 3:73's wish I had gone to 4:10's ---------- Post added at 07:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:45 PM ---------- I have the 4:10's n my hatchback fox. The pics r n my garage, it has 32 valve cobra motor

Lol you think 680 is alot where I live I had a buddy get a quote for $1000 for the install. Not including oil and bearings and seals and everything else. If your going with a ratio FRPP sells then get them. Otherwise it's a hit or miss with all other brands. Motives are always going to whine because they are cut different the the FRPP but I've been told motive are the absolute strongest fears though. I'll take a whine for strength any day. I also had to go with 3.90 which FRPP doesn't make.
