Sct Bama tunes worth it?

How is it going fellow stangers? Noob here coming from svtp. I recently purchased an 02 GT 5 speed to be my dd. I am starting another semester here shortly and would like to give the car some more pep and making it a consistant 13sec stang.

Cars is basically stock with a bbk cai and exhaust. Going to gears in jan so a tuner will come in handy. Was gonna get the gears but since ill be driving 60 miles daily i dont wsnt to rack up unwanted miles. Ive been browsing for first hand experiences with the bama tunes and some people say its worth it and other say to just do the gears and get the speedo calibrated. I am mostly going to use their 93 race tune so any insight?

Thanks

Its worth it. Throttle response is so much better for me, and I managed to pick up about 1mpg all around.

If I were to buy another mustang. I would definitely get the BAMA tunes, gears, and exhaust. Those are must haves IMO. Yes it's completely worth it because it's a upgrade to can really feel. really comes in handy too

Re: Sct Bama tunes worth it?

100% agree with what's said here....a tuner seriously WAKES the car up and the response time is unreal! I did exactly what you're talking about here- I put on an exhaust, a BBK CAI, and had 3.73 gears put in. Of course the gears threw the speedometer off, and I rationalized with myself over getting a tuner just to fix it, take the car to Ford and have them fix it, or go all out and get a tuner so I can not only fix that but tweak other stuff. Definitely worth it to go all out

I don't just love the new Mustangs, I love old school too!

Apex Predator,

Welcome to MustangEVO & Congratulations on the GT'! You'll find a ton of great reads & meet a lot of awesome people on here. Thanks for showing interest in Bama we appreciate it. Bama has a ton to offer you, One of the biggest benefits is our Free Tunes For Life program! Free tunes for life allows you to essentially tweak your tunes for whatever style of driving, commute or characteristics that are perfect for you.

For each and every Bama Tune, we ask you 19 questions about your specific Mustang, including your unique set up and intended use, in an easy to use web form. This information allows us to write an entirely custom tune just for your specific vehicle to ensure we deliver the most power and performance possible.

We're constantly developing out custom tunes with the latest and greatest! Between our 14 different AM Mustangs and tons of street/track testing, and constant testing on our DynoJet 224xlc, we're looking for any minor tweaks to be made that can benefit you guys. Our lead tuner Mike Wilson works hard to give you guys one of the best custom tunes on the market! We're also part of Fords Technology Transfer Program & Work very closely with Ford to insure that all of our tunes are perfect!

This is only the beginning, let me know if you have any further questions. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 10AM-3PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764!

Re: Sct Bama tunes worth it?

I noticed a good bit with mine before I did a motor swap. I did have to update the software though...but once that was done it was a cake walk. If you have your basic bolt ons then yes its a good idea but if you did a swap like me then no I would get a dyno tune. Im def planning on getting one for the cobra soon after I get home.

Bama or any other can tune for that matter are programed on the safe side... super safe... or the exact opposite... buy a used unlocked tuner and go have it dynoed by a reputable shop... more money you front but you are going to get what you paid for

Silversky545,

I'm sorry you feel that way towards AM/Bama. Is there something I can fix or anything that I can do to help get your business back? I want to apologize for whatever gave you this impression.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apex Predator,

Bama has sent out tens of thousands of tunes to thousands of our loyal customers. We've a very experienced staff and have been researching/testing Mustangs for a long time. At AM we have 14 company cars and our tuners have complete access to test any part from our warehouse on any of our AM cars. We even have over 30+ Mustangs including Employee cars that we've used to test&tune all of our mods. Lots of testing is done on local streets/tracks, as well as our DynoJet 224xlc. All of our tunes are custom made for our Customer's particular model/year Mustang and individual mods.

We work very hard to make sure we're providing very safe, but still aggressive tunes for our Customers. I'm sure if you decide to go with a Bama tune you won't regret it!

Get a dyno tune from a shop. I have experience with Bama and a JPC dyno tune. Bama doesn't compete with a real dyno tune. No mail in tune can.

01mineralgreyv8,

I'm sorry to hear that your experience with Bama wasn't good. If you want to give us another shot, I can have my head tuning specialist Mike Wilson contact you directly. I'm confident that he'll be able to get you dialed in. If not I completely understand and am glad to hear your happy with the JPC tune.

With 2011+ Mustangs, because of the factory wideband sensors, we can essentially give you a tune that is as accurate if not more accurate than some dyno tunes – and it’s done in real world conditions on the street! For 2010 and down we can make sure our tunes are on point with a little verification from our customers. If you're running a wideband or have the chance to take the car down to a dyno for a few pulls, we can verify that everything is spot-on! We just need to see how your Mustang's air/fuel ratio looks at WOT, then we can make revisions if necessary.

All of our tunes are built from the ground-up for your PCM code, your mods, octane level, style of driving, etc. The tunes that we sell are custom built and nothing like the "canned" tunes you'd find pre-loaded into the device. All of the best shops to get your Mustang dyno tuned offer mail-order tunes, as well. That should speak volumes about how accurate mail-order tunes can be if you go with a company who has tons of experience with your vehicle.

We value every customer and would love the opportunity to patch up our relationship. Shoot me a PM or Email if there's anything I can do!

Slow2V,

We'd love the opportunity to make things right. Like I listed above, I can have Mike Wilson contact you directly. He can look through your tune with a fine tooth comb and have you send us a few data logs. This will help us verify that your Mustang's spot on.

Our tunes are good 99% of the time. Occasionally there are errors because we hand write each tune. I'm confident my Bama team will fix it quickly! Majority of the time, its Small human error when filing your tune information form or by a Bama Member.

I hope to speak to you soon!

I've been running a Bama 93R tune for about 6 months and love it. Bama's customer service is great. Plus free tunes for life, I don't think anyone else offers that.

I have been running bama tunes for 3 1/2 years, never had an issue with them and love them. Respectfully, I strongly disagree with your opinion about bama tunes being garbage. AM and bama are fantastic to deal with and never any issues with them.

Bama, provides a safe, powerful tune with the key factor SAFE, SAFE SAFE! Bama is not looking to tune cars to set world records. There interested in giving the mustang enthusiast an opportunity to experience higher performance with there stock pony or heavily modded bolt on pony

Sent from my little Johnson.

After I am done with all the bolt-ons, I will probably get a dyno tune but the Bama tunes have worked great so far. I had a minor glitch once, but was quickly resolved.
