Fuel cap

One one opened my fuel cap and left it off as a "prank" and now my service engine light has came on. I've unhooked my battery and it's still on. Can anyone help.

Autozone won't clear codes anymore. At least that's what the one I went to told me. They will read codes just not delete them.

If you just drive it for a few days it will go off by itself. Mine did when the gasket tore on my cap and I had to replace it.

How long did you leave your battery dissconmected? It takes mine about 20-30 minutes to reset any codes.

Re: Fuel cap

Disconnecting the battery should do it but you have to let it sit for a while..Just the neg side..If you go to autozone they will try and sell you some o2 sensors..Every time freinds of mine takes it up to autozone they always tell them they need o2 sensors..Hell it could be a transmision code and they will still say you need one..Its such a joke

I just replaced my filler neck and it took about 150 miles for it to reset. It's probably the same code I had I would think?
