transmission noise

So i have noticed this noise getting louder and louder over the passed couple of months. While driving the car i can literally hear a tick or slap kinda coming from below. Can hear it when passing someone or standing outside the car. I put the car on the rhino ramps the other day and pinpointed the noise to the transmission. The noise is present at idle and increases with speed. Clutch was replaced last year, there is no squeak noise and the noise is still present while the clutch is pressed in.

Any thoughts as too the cause? I'm thinking possible flywheel?

It could be your pilot bearing

Any way to check that? Besides ripping the transmission out?

Not that I know of. If you don't mind getting cozy with a running car then pull the inspection plate while it's running and see if you can't hear anything better

Now the noise has progressed to a complete tick that speeds up with the rpms, but as soon as i push the clutch in the tick slows down. Hopefully someone can help identify this

You can hear it while driving in the car, coming from under the floor boards

I was just throwing that out there. I had a 7.3 powerstroke and it started makeing a rattling noise not really a tick. Anyway it was the flywheel.

Best to replace both at one time?
