Car wont lock help please!!

So it's 10 at night and my car won't lock the key fobs don't work... I put new battery in and still nothing I tried to reprogram turn key on and to off position 8 times leaving it in on position and then I hit the lock button on the key fob and the doors lock but as soon as I take the key out of the ignition or after one min the key fob won't work.. Oh and to top it off my key only goes in the door about 1/4 of a inch... I sprayed wd-40 in the keyhole and nothing it's almost as if something's stuck, can anybody help? 1999 mustang gt... I have only had the car for about a year...

If the actuator if frozen up, you'll prolly have to get in there and unhook the linkage to use your key cylinder. Do they work with your regular lock/unlock button inside the car?

Re: Car wont lock help please!!

I had the same thing happen on my truck. I had to buy two new actuators for it. Buy the better ones not the real cheap ones they will last longer.

Your key fobs worked before right? The key should always fit in the door it just won't turn if it's not cut right or keyed right. Something is probably stuck in there.

Will it lock and unlock using the button inside? If it doesn't then you have a problem inside the door panel.

It's always work up until last night , I can lock and in lock it from the door it's just the key fob and the key hole won't work... I ordered a new key fob but I'm worried that it still won't work because when I tried to re program my key fob it works but after 1 min or after I take the key out of the ignition it doesn't work at all

Well I know you can take your key fob to autozone they have a thing that checks to see if it works.

The battery in your fob could just be low enough to program then maybe die or just reset itself. I'd get your lock cylinder working first thing use a mini screw driver and a flash light to see if there is something jambed in there

So I took my lock cylinder out and took all the little springs out and all the little tumblers with littler numbers on them and put them in a cup with carb cleaner and then put back together and now it works fine!! But my keyless entry still doesn't work and I bought an other key fob off eBay and it's doing the same thing as my old key fob it works till I take the key out of the ignition or till the programming times out....??? Help??
