X or H pipe?

What's better and H pipe or an X? and does the brand matter?

The H-pipe provides a small boost in low end power and sounds deeper and throatier.

The X-pipe provides a small boost in the upper RPM range and sounds raspier.

Brand choice can matter in terms of quality and fitment.

I've had both styles in MAC brand I really like my h-pipe better. My x-pipe was just annoying on the interstate. Plus I've gotten more complements that my car sounds like the old muscle cars with the h-pipe. MAC brand is one of the cheaper in price but fits great and I've had it on my car for a year and no rust. Happy hunting exhaust was my favorite mod.

Best way to find out what you would like is go on YouTube. A lot of people say x pipe will be raspy but I feel it depends on the brand of the pipes as well

I got a MAC o/r H pipe (not Prochamber) and I love it, a Deep throaty sound. I get asked a lot about how I got it to sound so clean, deep, and smooth. I know my mufflers have a lot to do with it but I'm certain I don't enjoy the sound of my friends x pipe, too race car-ish.

Feel the same way man, my buddy has an X pipe and he tells me all the time he wishes he would have gotten the prochamber like me, I don't like the X pipes at all

You can buy it from AM and it sounds great in general man it gives your exhaust that real deep low muscle car rumble

Don't go cheap only. Find a setup, X H or ProChamber that you like and find out what users are saying about fitment and rusting, etc.

For me, I want it to be good quality fitment and not rust out or change sound over time.

Ya I agree with the fitment and not changing over time. I have flow master on it now but I'm doing full exhaust. So I'm putting pacesetter LTS with either an x or h pipe and slp loudmouth ll.

Re: X or H pipe?

I always know when a 2v 4.6 is driving by just because of the familiar sound of an o/r x-pipe and some nice mufflers. its a very distinctive sound that makes me look and smile every time!

Yes, check American muscle or eBay. They are expensive, atleast to me. I'm just going to weld high flows on an off road pipe. Be alot cheaper. In Cali I doubt u could do that because there will be proof u tampered with it.

Does it matter as far as a brand? Or as long as its a catted h it will be fine?

Re: X or H pipe?

I really didnt read all of the replies so if I repeat someone im sorry lol. But here is my take on which one you should go with. I had a h-pipe on mine before I went to long tubes then I got a mid x pipe. H-pipe pipes are deeper on the low end up while the x-pipe is louder to me on the high end esp with Long tubes. I def like x pipes on cobras...This is mine opinion though

Would a catted slp x pipe really make my slp loudmouth 1 louder than the stock h pipe or is it a waste?

If I did that what would be the difference in just getting a catted one? Also sense I have inspection and emissions if I had cats welded in on the off road x would they know and I not pass?

I know a guy who has a GT and has Borla Stingers and Bassani O/R X, sounds amazing. I think the mid pipe you go with depends on your catback too.
