Koni coilovers

Hey guys I'm looking to getting some coilovers from craiglist. I already have coilovers but on my front only and he is selling some koni coilovers for the rear. He said they fit 79-04 mustangs and he bought em of his friends 97 cobra. But I thought that cobras were irs? What are you're opinions

96-98 cobras are straight axles, they should work just make sure that they come with the brackets to mount them or check if they are the 1s that fit in the factory shock mounts

Yea they will fit.. Those are the sleeve kit they make to slide over a regular shock, good thing about those are if the shock goes bad all you have to buy is a regular shock, don't have to spend a bunch of money gettin a threaded shock.... And sounds like a pretty good deal

If they are still really stiff after you get it lowered down a bit you might try ordering a different spring rate, go for a less stiff set

---------- Post added at 02:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:39 AM ----------

I'd go ahead and take your quad shocks off to, that might help a little and with the coil-overs you shouldn't have to worry about wheel hop

Well I haven't driven it since we just finishes at 1:30. I just tried pushing the car up and down from the rear and was stiff. I'll see how it is tmrw and after i drop the rear a little more. What are the quad shocks?

I would, there not really gonna do you any good since you have the c/o's now, I haven't ran them on my car since I bought it and all I have is drag springs on factory lowers... It actually seemed to make mine hook better, the only reason they are put there is to prevent wheel hop

Haha yea just take off the bolts tht hold in place you're shock and a long bolt from the spring and a couple on top of the motor were cc plates go and you're good. Preety easy but first times tricky, I'm used to installing these now since ive done em on a few friends cars

When you go with coil overs, do you remove your springs?

We could definitely use a stronger mustang presence at the autocross.
