New Wheels on the way-Summitomo?

Get this my other buddy with that 03 cobra bought new wheels and he just boxed up his 03 cobra chrome rims and sent them to me.

So I was gonna put some 315 and 245 Summitomo on them and put em on.

Any thoughts on the Summis?

I'll keep my current cobra r rims for the track cause of the drs I have on em.

Re: New Wheels on the way-Summitomo?

315 on the 17x9 is really pushing it, some do it but its to much tire. Go with a 275/40/17 of some form or fashion all the way around so you can rotate.

dont lose the SVT center caps if they come alone, they are 25 bucks each in new condition~

Oh sorry he sent 2 10.5 and 2 9.0.

---------- Post added at 01:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:47 PM ----------

I am almost tempted to go with the anthracite bullet wheels with the Ford metal center caps.

Re: New Wheels on the way-Summitomo?

10.5 will work with 3.15 tire, if you have quad shocks (8.8 rear on a GT) they may rub, but you can remove them

I've got 315 G force drag radial on now on 10.5.

I think they are alright but I only put about 50 miles on em.

Sumitomos are decent front tires..
Putting on the rear.. Thats a different story.. Their grip sucks .

Re: New Wheels on the way-Summitomo?

If you arent pushing a bunch of HP then dont waste the money on a 315. You will be just fine with a 275 or 285. Unless you are going for that look.

I have summis and they are a good tire not bad for daily commute and getting around in these cars. Yea they don't grip very well but they are a good cheaper priced tire. I have 17x9 245 in front and 17x10.5 315 rears. I have a 1.25" drop and I have had no rubbing issues. I even asked AM b4 I bought these and they said it was fine. I do wish now I bought 275 fronts.

Nothing he just sent them to me said give some money whenever, he knows I'm not working atm.

---------- Post added at 12:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:35 PM ----------

I think he just didn't want them laying around in his garage probably...

---------- Post added at 12:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 PM ----------

Three of my wheels have really bad curb rash though so that's a factor...

I think the new ones look better with your paint. They pop more. You are right though, your old ones still look good too. Tough decision, but I like the pop!

Re: New Wheels on the way-Summitomo?

I like the new wheels a little more as long as you put some new smoked or darkened headlight on the car. But if you keep the headlights you have then the older Cobra wheels need to stay on. Just my 2 cents......
