Re: louder exhaust

Since we are on the subject of back pressure then someone answer me this.
I have a 2000 Gt(mod some) and a 98 cobra (stock) that I put long tube headers
(same size collector and everything) with a mid x pipe of the same brand no cats. On the gt I saw a difference as far as it pulling a little bit harder but on the cobra it seems the LT xpipe combo hurt the car cuz it doesnt pull as hard as it use too. any suggestions?

On the GT I tried running just headers with the o2 hooked up and it ran/drive poorly but when I connected it back up to the mufflers it ran fine, if these cars didnt need back pressure then why didnt it run good with just long tube headers?

So you ran the car without the rear o2s plugged in? Like nothing past the collectors? If so then the reason it's running poorly sounds like its because of your computer. Remove exhaust, tune to turn of the o2 sensors( or use mil eliminators) then see how it runs.

Yep, I was just running open long tube headers with nothing past the collector. The rear 02s are completely cut off in the computer so no need to have MIL's. I did the test both with the MIL's and after I had them cut off during tuning. Keep in mind I only did this as a test....

Ha, it was loud too lol.

I guess the same way I did... They didn't care. I find that if you get a tester that loves cars then he'll let things slide if you have a cool car.

I live how you keep questioning him but no response.. I think you should start a new thread for disproving back pressure along with that previous thread on "the myths of back pressure"

Good idea.

Alright I started a thread in the general mustang talk section. Anybody who wants to discuss it can head on over there so that we can and this thread jack.
