Where are the shift points at. Usually i would assume if ur running aggressive it will be hard shifts on an auto unless u have a valve body that can handle it. But ill let someone who has an sct on an auto or had experience with one answer im just basing my knowledge on having an auto......for the time being

That's the "firm" shifting that's described when you bought the tunes. I asked American Muscle about it. They assured me it extends the life of the transmission. But sometimes my rear gears lock up if I don't let the transmission fully shift before letting off the throttle.. It did it with the stock gears and I upgraded to 4.10 and still does it. I switched to street tune and it seems to be alot more smoother. Race tune I've noticed just isn't slow traffic, stop and go friendly. Sucks cuz I like the throttle response of race tune.

When was the last time you had trans fluid changed? Dirty fluid and filter will give you hard shifts, do you have rear gears and if so did they put the gear ratio in the tune? If the gear ratio is not set correctly it will shift hard , try turning down the shift points so the trans shifts a bit sooner.

Well it has the stock gears and I haven't changed the fluid also since I got the tranny rebuilt since last year which I have drove a lot on too also it said the diff pressure was high . I had the performance tune on it and drove awesome but had to switch to street cause of hard shifts which was a lot better...

Do you also notice when you floor it, it shifts better? I think the more aggressive the tune, the more the car expects to be pushed with these automatic transmissions.. I just had my transmission fluid services at 65000 miles 2 months ago.

SloMoGT,

The race tune will ensure the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory. This file is designed for "Race Use Only", as the timing, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. It is so aggressive that we do not recommend it for daily driving as it may cause your vehicle to try to jump out from a stop and easily spin the tires. On automatics, we implement entirely new shift points and firmness settings to further enhance the all-out performance of the vehicle. The extremely firm shifting is normal, however we can definitely soften it up for you!

Just give my Bama team a call and they'll take care of you! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 10AM-3PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764!

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!

- Dan

thanks dan i really hope they can help me out cuss i had to change it back to stock tune due to the fact that it started to throw the overdrive light on and off (blinking) shifting really strong . did some research and seem its cuss it stays at high rpms to long before shifting and drops them from 3k to 1500 rpm. ill call them as soon as i wake up. thanks

My dad has a 2000 GT that I've been driving for a week ( my car is at the body shop ) it's auto and completely stock and it shifts hard when I stomp on it. If its chirping the tires from 1st to 2nd its doing the job right!

So today I called BAMA. They set the transmission on the street performance to stock. Now it runs smooth as butter and I don't cringe every time I end up in stop and go traffic!
