Too Hot

I left my house yesterday morning and by the time I go to work, my car was an icebox. When I went to leave for lunch, my a/c wouldn't come off of the defrost no matter what the switch was turned to. I asked around and am getting conflicting answers. Is the 96 Gt model vaccume opperated or does it have an electrice acctuator to select betwen vents and defrost? Anybody run in to this?
