anger

Well somebody backed into my car at school today. Cracked my rear bumper. Scratched the spoiler. Lightly scratched the trunk lid. I'm furious. How much do you think it'll cost to get a new rear bumper and some touch up paint. 02 gt

Ouch. Sorry to hear about that. I would take it to a body shop and see what they have to say. I hope it's not too bad.

The price they quoted probably included a new bumper removing your old one and painting and installing a new one try and find a bumper then get a price for prep and paint and you will Chang it your self save lots of money that way

Re: anger

the only way i'd run it through my insurance is if the fix would cost more then the deductible...if by chance it is cheaper then i'd pay out of pocket.

Re: anger

Rear bumper cover-new at certifit less than 120
Prep/Paint at Ford-300

That's the rear bumper cost.

You do the remove/replace yourself.

Not sure about the rest.

From what I can see it doesn't look that bad if you are really pressed for money you could repair it. But that's only if you have experience with bumper repairs cuz it can go wrong real fast. But if not and you wanna keep your insurance rates down then yeah just pay for it out of pocket

I got a quote from a local body shop for 717$ I'm not doing that. I'm thinking of buying the bumper from ford and getting it painted. Or will they ore paint it? Can I do that? And then installing the bumper myself. How difficult is a bumper install?

You meant "buying the bumper cover from the local certifit for a 100 bucks the taking it to the ford dealership and Asking them to paint it for 300"

Do it Monday and be done.

I know that is what you meant.

---------- Post added at 12:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:05 AM ----------

Don't ask ?s just do it. Bottom line that is it. Lights out I only want to see the results.

The cheapest way and maybe the hot body shop girls like you.

Yeah that sound like a good idea and I would get new rear number side reflectors because I've found that they almost always brake when you take the speed nuts off

After looking at your pics, you should be able to get that fixed like new for very little and in no time. We use PDR guys at work for bumper damage to our units instead of filing a claim with insurance companies. They come out and fix the damaged units and be gone in about 2 hours and it may only cost $200. Dealerships do it all the time on the used cars they buy from auctions. If you know someone that works for a dealership, he/she can tell you who they use for PDR(paint less dent repair) work.

That isn't too bad. Honestly I bet the part by the letters would buff out. Looks like some paint transfer. As for the top part it looks like a little damage. But its not that big a deal really. I bet that's fixable without doing the whole bumper.
