hard driving, shifting high rpms bad?

so new to manual transmissions, today i saw a buddy i havent seen in a few years, wanted to take a ride in the stang and feel the power, well i was in a parking lot, never left 2nd gear, but i was shifting out of first at about 4000-5000 RPM, i usually try to baby my stang as i dont want her to break. my question is, is it real bad on the engine/tranny shifting that high? what is considered driving the car HARD or pushing it a bit too much. sorry just being my over concerned self about m car always thinking that something is gonna go wrong...109k miles.

Don't cruise at those higher rpm's but it's a mustang...drive it like ya stole it. Seriously though if ya stay off the rev limiter and ya don't drive it that way everyday you should be fine.

I always coast to 4k..always shift at 3-5 depends on mood

i never cruise above 2000-2500, just sometimes i get a bit anxious and like to take off in first an rev it to about 4-5k

I dont think "babying it a bit too much" is ever a problem. I always baby mine. My shifts are all usually at about 2 1/2, and yeah under red line is always good. Up to red line is what your baby can handle. To this day I havent red lined only up to 6500

As long as your not driving it like your ob a race track 24x7, you should be okay. You need to give it some time to cool off. Keep your oil changed regularly. Id use synthetic oil because it doesnt break down very easily under heat. As for the tranny, I would make it a habit of power shifting. Make sure you change the fluid regularly.

ive hit rev limiter one time and thats just because i hit a slick ass spot doing a burn out lol, but i shift around5500 when racing maybe a lil closer to redline

Hell my car is at 3k on 95. Have only driven it like that for 40-50mi so far but the passing power is great, haha

I don't run my car that hard but every now and then I get on it, when I do I shift around 6,000RPM just cruising I shift at 2,500

i feel like when i shift at 2k i cant keep up and hold people behind me a bit when for instance going from a red light 0mph to a 55 mph zone.

I normally take her to about 3K-4K on normal driving. But I am physically unable to drive slower than that. Lol

Yea my stang would love you! I get on mine hard maybe two three times a week and the occasional spirted driving daily but as far as high revs a few times a week. Youll be just fine and youll only start breaking when you try and get it to hook aka drag radials lol

Normal driving, I'll shift around 2200 to 2500rpm. I've gone up to the 6800 redline, but only at the track. If I'm not at the track, I won't normally go over 5800rpm.

I love hearing my exhaust so I tend to cruise a little higher sometimes lol... But I normally shift at 3k. When racing in at about 5k

Yeah when you shift at 2k you do hold traffic up a little but, but think of it as their privilege to look at you beautiful stang!

Ok, I read half the threads then got bored. WANNA DO HIGH RPS ON A STICK WHILE NOT DAMAGING YOUR CLUTCH? here's how you can do it. Begging in first gear if applicable (lol, but true), start slow, but stay in first to your desired rpm, 5 max, shift to second, do same, shift to third shift earlier, or later, nurse axel pedal to your liking, keep bumping up, enjoy the purr and fun. Get it? Clutch is fine. Keep eye on enginw temp unless you can tune coolant fan speeds. Lol. I do it and love it.
