Trickflow or???

I'm looking at buying a good set of heads and cams. I've heard nothing but good about trickflow but wanted some other opinions.

Re: Trickflow or???

If I had the $ to spare, trickflow for sure. I haven't read up on it to much but I don't think nothing would compare to port & polish trickflow heads. I don't see u being disappointed.

Re: Trickflow or???

No. Ill prob go ported pi heads. You give it sometime and other people will chime in and tell u from experience. But trickflow heads and a set of cams, it'd be a new machine. SC on that and then you have a beast.

I've heard that Patriot's have valve seals go bad a lot. But I haven't researched it much.

I've heard the same ,I also heard of bent valves and broken valve springs, I would get my heads ported before I bought patriot, but if I had the $$$ I would definitely have a set of ported trick flow heads!!

Or AFR. Those would be in the same price range maybe a bit more but offer up just as much as trickflow.

What about MHS ported heads? The price is fairly reasonable and it seems like I have heard good things about them. Should I go with comp 270's or some cams from MHS?

Stock bottom end 4.6L? How much power are you looking to make? I will be more than happy to help you out if you can give me details on what you are looking to achieve with your build.

Well I have a forged bottom end. I just went ahead and sent my heads to livernois and they are doing a stage 2 port. I also have custom grind blower cams on the way. I may end up going with trick flow on down the road but for now I just went with stage 2 livernois. Would I see a huge power gain with trick flow rather than the ported heads?

Re: Trickflow or???

Typical power gain on a head and cam build is around 130 hp + at the flywheel, but there are more benefits to our heads besides the gains in power. With our heads you get the replacable cam caps, 3/4" think decks and spark plug threads, revamped oiling system to get more oil to the caps and better piston to valve clearance due to the intake valve being moved to the other side of the cam. Thanks for keeping us in mind for future upgrades.
