mustang gt 2000

Ok i have a 2000 gt .. Im confused when My car turns on no lights are on.. Then when i click the over drive button it says od off. .. So does that mean od automatically comes on when its turnd on My bf thinks when the button n it says od off it means its on ..? It drives like its on od when it says its off !? Help!

When it is showing, it is off meaning overdrive is not engaged.

When your turn your car on the green o/d light is not lit. This means overdrive is engaged, so you have that 4th overdrive gear engaging for lower rpms and better fuel efficiency. If always defaults to being on.

If you press the button and the light is lit up on your dash, then the o/d is turned off, or not engaged. Your transmission will basically act ike a 3spd and won't engage that 4th overdrive gear.
