supercharger or cobra

Well, Shud I buy a supercharger for my 02 gt. Or save a bit more, sell the gt, and buy a cobra? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

03-04 cobra? Then yes, because then you'd have potential for 600hp with nothing done in the motor.

Cobra would save some work, but you'll have a good bit higher insurance with about the same power as a s/c gt. I'd vote supercharger mainly because I like building power, has the pride factor to it.

I love the terminators but they are expensive as hell. The cheapest one around here that I've seen is like 20k no lie. But they are SEXY! And if you want to mod your cobra, remember parts are more expensive and insurance is much higher.

Yea a little more expensive, but the power you can get out of a cobra is inane! Full exhaust, an intake will net you around 50 hp

the investment of a supercharger will get you around 360rwhp~ or there about and the value of the car really wont go anywhere, you will end up losing money on the supercharger setup etc.

At least with a cobra you START at about 360rwhp and you retain more value in the car~

But once they actually do some serious modding you'll be the one in their rear mirror haha

I was going to sell and buy a Cobra but even the ones that are 20 were dd and beat to hell.

I'm sc my Gt and I'll get my money back when I sell it because a guy I know just sold a sc 01 gt for 12k. I'll have less $ in my car and it is nicer.

i'm at same question myself...was thinking prolly wise to sell rather than keep throwing money at my GT, and look for good clean cobra down south.

anyway, which sc were you looking at??? kinda curious myself which setup is best(reliability and performance) and what the overall expense would be. i'm thinking new- 2500 bare minimum upwards of 4000, and this not even including install and proper tune???!

joe
p.s. guessing, one advantage is if u sc a gt, you're insurance no go up!!!!

It will probably run you a little more than that cause you also have to get all the inter cooler piping and intercooler. The ones you see for 3k are the upgrade s/c for the cobra. You are better off with the cobra because its a built motor and you won't be worried that your motor will have a meltdown. If your going to s/c your gt you will need to build your motor up unless you plan on staying in mid or low 400's.

honestly, was just hoping to get around 100 hp. alright, maybe to 400. didn't want to rebuild motor, and dont want to get too crazy with the suspension either.

btw, and if you know, were the 03-04 cobras big upgrade in suspension over the stock GT? i understand prob had IRS; wondering if also had h.d. sway bars, bushings, ball joints, control arms etc. right from the factory.

...just curious.

It has the IRS. Not sure about the rest. When I bought mine it was lowered and had a lot of suspension work already done.

Sure cobras are worth more but the more modding you do to an expensive car like that, the value just sinks. If you we're to mod a cobra after you bought it you would just lose money. Plus parts for cobras are twice as much as your GT. and I doubt you would want to leave that cobra nine stock

Ad a cold air intake an upper pulley and a tune and that's about 100hp for around 500 bucks...vs 100 hp for 4-5k. Up to you.

thanks Frank!
already have cold air/tb and plenum, tune,a new cat back sys, and NOW... my latest, a mac pro chamber.

i can tell you from experience, that this does not yield 100 hp. all combined, MAYBE 30-40... the claims all the manufacturers make are really kind of stretched(will give examples if anyone cares). however i will say the improvements altogether, do make the car pull stronger, breathe(and sound) better, and more fun to drive.

50 horse though, i doubt. maybe one day i'll take ride and drop a few bucks on a couple dyno pulls just for's. ttyl-

All that stuff makes way more of a gain when you have fi.

fi... fuel injection? yes, that's what i have('04 GT). you really think i should be gettin' almost 100 horse out of all this stuff?!

as far as basic mods, the only thing i think i haven't done is the ud pulleys. oh, and my rear gears(but don't think that makes more ponys!). on second thought, guess i could do the cams and heads!

well that make more sense then... yes a turbo/supercharger should easily 'force' an extra 100 hp out of the motor (or would it be even more with all the mods)

I seriously doubt that basic bolt ons will give a 100 HP increase on a motor that has 400 or so.
