4v swap

I have a 98 gt I just picked up a 99 cobra motor with a blown bottom in it. So the big Q? Is if I take the head intake timing chain cover everything off the 4v on to my 98 short block will it work?

Thatnks for posting that link Az. To answer the question yes it will work. But depending how it was blown will determine the overall outcome. Let me give you a guideline on a correct approch. 4v heads (keep) dissasemble have cleaned and decked. Check for damage in bowl area. The Block well if not damaged then keep and have it checked for square. Crank is a forged piece (have it checked for damage and have polished). 4v pistons are -3cc dished pistons, 2v pistons drop CR quite a bit. Also don't reuse timing componets not a wise decision. FMS has a new kit with everything for 450 or so. Remember 4v engines equal money. (Spending) I would in your case rebuild the blown motor (if block is swell). Plus you get nearly 80-100lbs weight savings. But remember after all that you will need a tune and run premium fuel. Tunes for swapped engines are not done by brennspeed or bama, so you will have to search. Bottom line get the motor check it out, keep your car intact and drive it. Put the cash aside and build the cobra motor. Check modmax for deals on engine kits.
