Have you tried posting that block in the forum classifieds? You might get some hits.

I was thinking of a 5.4 4 valve out of the navigator as a platform to build. I'm planning a n/a set up, but have some questions will a 4.6 intake manifold work?

It's a teskid block, with dss racing 4.6 to 5.0 stroker kit, good for 1000hp... But I broke a valve spring and at idle the retainer gave way and dropped the valve so it needs new pistons.. Got ford high volume oil pump full arp studs and bolts

Yea, so I pulled it out took the heads off and there sat the intake valve... Chewed the head up bad. I put a socket on the crank pulley and it spun over fine... It's at the machine shop now to see if the block, crank and rods are okay

I am headed this morning to go pickup a FREE 4.6 truck engine...this will be my first mod motor ever...this will begin my knowledge of modular engines, so if i come on here asking questions, i hope you all will cut me some slack and be patient lol

my goal for this Junk engine is to get it , get it home, tear it down, so i can have a little more knowledge of whats going on when i speak 4.6 engines. Hopefully, I will have at least one of my two sons, with me during all of this....if the engines rebuildable, I will more than likely go thru it if nothing else just for the experience.

I will be searching online for a casting number decoder so i can know exactly what i have and hopefully find all that i need.

Moderators: if i have over looked this...i apologize, but is there a chance we could possibly make a "Engine section" were we could post pictures, casting numbers, etc on what to look for when junkyard shopping?
thanks to all

The truck engine is different internally then the passenger car engine (Windsor vs. Romeo). The Romeo engine has 6 bolt main caps. 4 on top and 2 side. The Windsor has 2 bolts on top 2 dowels and 2 bolts on the side. The 2v heads have caps instead of girdles, and have 13 bolts that hold the valve cover on instead of 11. Which makes aftermarket covers slim pickens. But non of the said differences make a negitive nor positive on hp and tq production. So when you rebuild remember to look for info that is specific to the truck (triton) v8. Funny as I was writing this you posted the link. Lol

yea, i woke up at 5 am, had a litebulb go off and headed out to get that engine...thing is,its a 1998 Windsor 4.6. I have already picked it up and at least have an idea of a few things on it.
if nothing else maybe i can use a few parts off it or something.
price was right... yes i am a junkyard dawg and love looking thru them, problem is around here everyone has either crushed everything or is about to....
sad but true.
