95 v6 to 4.6 swap

Hey guys. I got a 95 lx I picked up with a locked up 3.8. I have a 4.6 out of a 95 thunderbird that I'm throwing in it. I'm not exactly sure what all I have to change out tho. I still have all wiring an what-not from the t-bird so I guess if you could help me out and get me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

If u have all the wiring and ecm im sure ur more than set on it. Not too sire of the k members are the same on 95 to 96 and up due to it being a 95 but i assume they would be. Besides that fuel lines might need modifing probably gonna need the ccrm as well. Someone else should chime in soon with more help

Yea the engine harness on the 4.6 looks the same plug to hook up to the harness on the car, just not sure if I will work or not. Still tryin to free up the v6 up so I can separate from the tranny an finish pullin. I kno for sure engine mounts aren't the same so I gotta change them before I can even set it in, see if the driveshaft will fit or if I need a shorter one.

you will also probably benifit from changing the rear end on it, if i remember i think a v6 is 7.5 compared to a 8.8 on a gt. drivetrain is gonna be different so stock gt driveshaft will probably be necessary.

hopefully that is all it would need, would suck if it needs axles. at least axle seals and wheel bearings arent that hard to fix

Did the bird have a anti theft light in the dash? The plug may be the same and the ECM will plug in but I'm not sure if it will run or not. Also like I said if it has a PATS system in the tbird your going to run into issues there. The PATS will not let it start if it doesn't match everything else. You may have to change dash harness and all from the tbird for it to work. Not sure on that. Replace your front springs also, the v6's springs are not rated for what the 4.6 weighs. K member is no different but the oil pan on the tbird may not work. If you plan to use the v6's tranny don't need to change the driveshaft but don't expect the tranny or the rear end to hold up long. first good time you torque it up, its gonna grenade the pinion and ring along with the spider gears.

It didn't have anti theft so I might b good there. I still have the aod for the 4.6 so that's what I planned on using till I can afford the manual swap. Measured both Tranny's an they r the same length so I might get away with it for now till more money rolls in. This swap is temporary, just tryin to get it on the road due to it settin up for about 10 months. I have a block from a mark viii that I plan on building after tax season.
