Transmission for 2002 GT

I have an 02 gt and im looking for a new tranny. My question is since i have the tr-3650 stock in my car will a t5 from a 98 gt work? Ive been told it will but just wanted opinions from you guys. Thanks

you need to go back wtih a T-45 or 3650 etc etc a T5 wont bolt up directly

I'd you have to budget it then find a junkyard 3650. If you have some cash and want a better trans look into a tko500

Isn't the T5 per 94, and the T45 94-98, with the tr3650, next followed by the T56 99-04 depending on gt model?

T5 is 95 and earlier. T45 is 96-mid01. After that is t-3650. I believe the only stang with t56 is 03-04 termi.

You may need to get an adapter for the speedometer if you go the T-45 route. I beleve 99-04 cars had electronic speed sensors whereas 96-98 had mechanical ones.
You'll definitely need the shifter out of the donor car, as the 3650 shifter won't work.

So would the t5 work and what would it take 2 make it work! I really have a good deal on 1 and dont want to pass it by if its possible! But if not i wont bother or if it takes 2 much to work

More hassle and money for a weaker trans. Not worth the effort.
