heater hose

What is the inlet and outlet. On the core and the hoses?

The hose from the vertical nipple on the intake manifold is the inlet, the one that passes through the valley between the cylinder banks, to the back of the water pump cavity is the outlet...

Follow the hoses. Cliffy already pointed out the inlet for u basically just follow it to the firewall and that would be the inlet nipple.....and so on and so forth

I would have followed the hose but when i got the car the core was bypassed. I changed it out and just wanted to double check the hose location. This isnt a project i wanna do again. Does it really matter on the core if you hook the inlet hose to the outlet nipple?

The heater core input is the one nearest the passenger side IIRC. Here's a cooling system schematic FWIW:
