and from personal experience with a 3650 on my old '04 GT...change the fluid...change it often..and always add in syncromesh....because the 2-3 issue is highly common on them

Had a 3550 in my 1st 95 and was my understanding it was the required fluid..
Mine was rough, didn't really like it. I've driven several 3650's and they seem a lot more user friendly, like a T5

So I see that Pennsoil makes a synchromesh product, is this the same stuff? Can I mix that in with some royal purple?

So my 2000 GT has the T45. I'm wanting to replace the tranny, what I want to know is if the TR3650 will fit and if so what changes must be made because I believe the TR3650 is hydraulic clutch and mine is cable clutch. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

I just swapped out Mobil 1 ATF I had in my 3650, with 3 quarts of Pennzoil syncromesh, I must say shifting is a bit better, but it's def a bit more noisy on the shifter

3650 in a New Edge is a cable as well. They went to hydro in the S197. Unbolt T45, bolt in 3650.

There's performance shops that will beef up your 3650 for ya, my buddy had his rebuilt and beefed up with a hardened 26 spline input shaft, upgraded brass syncros, face hardening gears, and better bearings, for under 2k..I believe it can now handle up to 600-700 HP no problem

If you have the money laying around I would go with a TKO600 or a Viper spec T56. If not then a stock tranny should work fine. What are your plans for the car?

TKO600 is def a bit pricey and still has its known problems along with the 3650

I need a tranny to get my car going because the T45 just gave out, it's only running on the first two gears. But I want to replace it with one that isn't as problematic as the current tranny. As for money, this is the best time to do it because of income tax. My budget right now is at 3k. Would buying a 3650, and doing the built deal on it, be the best way to go? what do y'all think?

---------- Post added at 04:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 PM ----------

If it really is only about 2k to get the built 3650 it would leave me some cash to get some other stuff done to the car.

No, not yet at least. But I plan on hitting at least 500 HP before the end of the year. And since the tranny already needs replacing I might as well put one that will endure that much power.
