looking to buy a 1997..

I have a guy offering his 97 GT for $4500 with 136 000km (roughly 75000 miles)... I understand the 97 and 98 were the slowest production GT's out there.

Any advice around this one? Is the price in line or any mechanical issues that I should be aware of- thanks!

97 will look better then a new edge( joining the other bias people). If you can talk him down and do a pi swap then I would go that route.

Lol the new edge was based off the sn95. Same car different styling front and rear.

... before you buy a 4500 dollar car just to put another 1500 in to keep up with new edges, you should consider a Cobra in the same year range. With patience one can be found near the cost of that GT with a head swap but you'll be faster, look better, and have the prestige of the Cobra name.

Loans already down to 8K and not even a year old yet, so hopefully will be paid off long before 5 years. And yeah I looked at 05-09 styles but hate the body style of them so wanted an 04.

Paid almost 9k for my 02 GT with 100k miles flat..new tremec 3650 freshly installed and ford racing clutch as well, not a ding or scratch on the paint, convertible..car was listed at $10,500 nd I got him down to a little under 9, I looked for a few months and that was the cheapest I could find for how damn well taken care of the car was, found a few here and there for 6k and they were beat the hell up....

Bought my 04 with 70k and no mods but Flowmasters for 9k in Florida. A friend of mine just bought a 98 Cobra with 90k miles for 5500. An exceptionally good deal in my eyes, but it wasn't any extreme circumstances. He just managed to find one for what he could afford. I'd never own my car if it cost over 10k though...

My 03 GT with 78,000 and tasteful mods and service ran me $4800. He was asking 9. He owed $4800 on the loan he really wanted out of. Look for loan playoffs if you're planning to buy used.
