Is it possible to still possible for something to go wrong with the car?

I'm about to get nos but i dont wanna go all out with it. i just wanna add a little bit more power so i was gonna get the ZEX Safe Shot Nitrous System which can only be tuned for 15-35HP. before i get it i wanna no is there still a possibility of a backfire and/or a explosion? i just got a new engine in my 2002 Mustang GT and i dont wanna go through the same process for a 3rd time.

An oxidizer(nos) is never good for your engine.and yeah 90% of the time it will cause something called detonation(that is where your cylinder fires when the piston is moving up) and that can cause Major damage, let me tell you the way to get more hp and torque, get convex pistons(another name is domed pistons) that increases your compression,A crankshaft that allows a longer stroke for torque, and a cam that has a farther lift(how far your valves open)and a longer duration (how long your valves are open) this will give you increased hp and torque all of the time,,about a 60 hp gain and a 40 lb torque(educated guess)And it is only a little more that a nos system.

If your going to use the bottle never use the stock cast pistons.
I would be getting some forged pistons. If you plan on using more,Then I would consider a forged crank as well.Yes if you go lean, well there goes your engine.
