Off/Road X Pipe Project

Hey guys I finally found the time to put my o/x pipe on tmmrw but should I be aware of any problems before I start this tmmrw? Let me know thanks

Do you have PB blaster? Spray it on the day before on all the bolts.

Yeah I already soaked the bolts with pb and wd and it's a upr

I was going to do my BBK o/r X pipe last week and I'm glad I didn't do it. First it's cold here in NY to do it on the street. So I took it to a shop and had them install it. The bolts had to get really heated with a torch for a while. My mechanic said I would of snap those bolts because they was a pain. It cost me only $105 and I'm good with tools.... Kind of.

See that's what I'm afraid of, snapping the bolts on the manifold, did they hear those ones?

Don't forget to unplug the battery. You'll be close to the starter and you'd be in for a "shocking" surprise if you got against it. Also, you may not need them if you don't have a lot of miles, but if you are like I was, it wouldn't hurt to replace o2 sensors while under there. I never had a problem with them until they were taken out and plugged back in. I was running rich enough to get like 8 mpg. But this may or may not apply to you.

If you do get o2 sensors, don't get universal fit ones, get some good ntk ones or oem if you don't want to spend as much, just make sure they are made just for mustangs.

I'm running slp lm1 and I also have the mil eliminators, me Nd my buddy are start tmmrw at like 7am

I broke one of my bolts off on the drivers side. Man it sucks to have to drill out the old bolt from under the car. We did get it done though. It is a piece of cake if you don't run into any problems like that. It is a little tricky getting to the front o2 sensors to unplug but it can be done with a long screwdriver. Now here is something you will not like. I used 18mm non fouler plugs that cost 3.99 at the local auto parts store to solve the service engine light instead of the 69.95 MIL eliminators. All you have to do is drill them out with a 1/2 inch drill bit so the o2 sensor will fit in it. Then just screw the non fouler plug in where the o2 sensor goes then screw the o2 sensor into it plug them back in and you are good to go. What this does is move the o2 sensor back out of the fumes so it thinks there are cats still in place. This is for the back o2 sensors not the front ones.

Mine did too on the passenger side. That was just a reason for me to get headers and bring it to the shop for the install. I didn't have.the.patience or the time to drill and possibly have.to re-tap the manifold.

I'm surprised a shop would install an off road X or H, since there are no cats. Did you have to sign off on anything?

Do you think you can drill out the broken bolt or stud? Which side was it that broke? If you can drill it out, you can probably borrow a tap & die set from a local auto parts store and tap it out for a new bolt.

My friend owns a shop where I had my headers and off road pipe put on. I had the mil eliminators but they failed within a month so now I just use my tuner to clear the code and have it inspected.

The bottom driver side bolt broke on the bottom but it broke halfway, how did yous get the bottom passenger side bolt off? It seems impossible

Plus an extension. Actually, I think I used 2, 6" & 2" as well as the u-joint.

Spray that thing again with PB blaster and let it set 15 minutes. Get it good and soaked.

It's the stud that's stuck in the manifold now how the hell does that come out? Drill it out? And all the other ones came out good with heat and pb

Two on each side, is what you see, right? Your x pipe flanges should fit up to it. I guess you should say it's really a threaded stud, not a bolt.
