About ready to do the Rear end

Ok so, I am sure the differential is bad in the pony. I am going to change it. Since I am having that done I figure I might as well add 3.73 gears. Question is AM has a ring an pinion install kit an a rear end install kit. Which one will I need. The price difference isn't to bad but when you figure in gears, differential, the install kit, gear oil, stabilizer, an a chrome cover just because, plus labor. I am looking probably at about 700 +. So I am trying to cut that price down a bit.

I would go with the Ford racing gears and install kit at AM for 259.99. Your bearings are probably the problem. This kit includes everything needed and royal purple so you dont need stabilizer.

03RedfireGt,

As already mentioned above, I would get the whole Ford Racing Gears/install kit. It will come with everything you need to replace the gears and new bearings. The factory gears are pretty old being it's a new edge Mustang, so if they aren't the current issue, I'm sure it's only a matter of time. That being said, you may also need new carbon disc's if the factory rear discs are burnt out. You can get new discs or a new HD Track-lock differential, either one is wise while you have diff apart.

Hope this helps!

Shane

Look into the trac rebuild while you're redoing everything. The clutch packs are much thicker and stronger

I am just going to buy a whole new differential, at least that was the plan rather than doing a rebuild. AM has one for 249.99. Is that the better option you think. I seen the combo kit with gears, install kit, oil an stabilizer. I will pick that up with the differential.

Do you think it is just the bearings an not the differential? I would hate to put her in the shop an have them tear it apart only to find out I need a new differential.

03RedfireGt,

Good call! This way there will be no surprises when the diff is taken apart. Plus, you're starting over with practically a brand new stronger rear. I'm glad we could help out too!

Not trying to take business from AM but this is a good kit for the money. Maybe AM can match you this set for the price.

Not a problem, I just wanted you to be aware of it in case you ever needed a gear kit!
