I installed the bama 4bank eliminator chip, is it bad to use 87 octane rating on the performance setting? It is recommended to use 89 from AM

Btw, what a difference! I love it!

Yes it is bad. You can have the potential for pinging and detonation by running a lower octane fuel than what it's tuned for

Greg Banish's book Engine Management: Advanced Tuning is a great place to start...

Hey cliffyk if I would read this book and learn good the basics on how to do it my self. I could tune my car better with my sct handheld tuner right?

Thanks to all of you especially cliffyk for all the info. I am going to reread it all again and again to glean as much from this as I can. Please keep up the discussion. I am learning much.

Where did you find this?
You can't see the original post because when the thread was moved to the DIY forum, it was closed and all of the posts were removed.
Maybe one of the mods can put Cliffys original post back into this thread so that it can become useful again.

I am still kicking, had a stroke that messed up my left side so no more clutches, however the new ride does well--my only gripe is that they claimed the speed limiter kicked in at 155 mph, I could only get 153.8 on the GPS. Should I sue Mercedes?

Naw...
It shouldn't be any problem for you to just eliminate the speed limiter altogether.

It's great to hear from you again Cliffy!

It was put in the DIY area to clean up the stickies a bit and make it easier to locate, but that isn't really working very well
