My thoughts is if your going to drive in rain/snow Mel sure you have appropriate tires and keep traction control on. Mines turned off with 315/35/17 nitto 555 on the back and I slide all over the place in rain.

i run all seasons on my back tires and swap for track use...but i keep TC off during rain and snow...i've found i can control the car better without it wanting to kill my throttle. i use to spin out all the time when trying to use the freaking thing

I have a blower pushing 12psi and make over 420hp at the wheels and she gets driven every single day. We have 5 inches of snow right now and I drove through it to work this morning and I'll do the same when I get off tonite. You just have to pay attention and know what you're doing behind the wheel

---------- Post added at 04:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:42 PM ----------

And I agree with 1slosix, my traction control is always off. I spun out twice in rain bc my mind corrected for the spinning tires and then bam no throttle response and I went right around. I feel I control my car better than any computer could

Traction control is what pretty much kills the throttle or acts almost like an ABS system except on your throttle. When your tires break loose whether it be on wet roads or dirt it senses this and feathers the throttle kind of like how ABS works by pumping the brakes for you under a sudden stop. It's designed to help out to prevent spin outs but its not always perfect as it can't predict the actions of a human and what we know is right. I always drive with my tc off because I too have had a couple near collisions due to the correction of the traction control

---------- Post added at 02:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:38 AM ----------

It's pretty much a fail safe for the general driver who under a quick situation like that might panic and not know what to do lol

Did some reading up on it and looks like it came out in 99. Guess that answers my question.

I have a 99 gt with every option, no traction control.

And no rear hop or any other issues.

Traction control started in 01.

It's strange what cars have it. Wife has a 04 gt premium and it did not come with it. I had mine permanently turned off in the tune.

The console for 99-00 did not have a button location for TC, therefore it was not offered I think.

And this is way off topic but since you asked about my tires and the thread name is hooked up I figured I show off my newest purchase. Hoosier 28X9 slicks on Weld Prostar wheels! Can't wait to get to the track!!
